Imares is one of the research institutes of the Wageningen University. IMARES (Institute for Marine Resources and Ecosystem Studies) is the Netherlands research institute established to provide the scientific support that is essential for developing policies and innovation in respect of the marine environment, fishery activities, aquaculture and the maritime sector. At IMARES a report was conducted on the feasibility of sustainable offshore production of seaweed. IMARES also offers indoor and outdoor cultivation of algae.
